Dear Miesha,
Thank you very much for contacting me and my press about this; much appreciated.
The event sounds wonderful, but my Blood Pudding Press is not location-based. I've published poets from various states and the only Ohio-based poet I published a chapbook by recently had to relocate to Florida, to live with his mom, do to his health issues. I have a few authors from semi-nearby states, but not from Ohio.
Also, my press's chapbooks aren't professionally bound and ISBN registered. I print, hand-design and hand-bind them at home by myself.
So I'm thinking my press might be a little too indie for this event, but I will share the event online and with some area writing groups I'm a part of, in case any area writers/small press editors I know might be interested.
Also, since my most recent book (Malformed Confetti, published by Crisis Chronicles Press last year) does adhere to the guidelines and since I am from Ohio, I will consider applying for the event myself.
Thank you for letting my know about it!
Sincerely, Juliet Cook
Dear Juliet:
My name is Miesha Headen; my colleague Julie Beckers at Loganberry recommended that I contact you. I'm coordinating Loganberry
Books' Author Alley event this year, a gathering of local authors on July 6th from noon to 4pm in
conjunction with the Larchmere Festival in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Loganberry
Books is one the largest independent bookstore in Ohio and Mental Floss
Magazine recently rated it as one of the best independent bookstores in the
United States.
I am interested in approaching your authors about
participating this year and was hoping you could assist, or pass on some
contact information. Are there any other exciting authors you have right now
you think would be good for Author Alley? We are looking for authors who have
published works within the past 18 months.
Here is more information about Author Alley.
Many thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Miesha Headen
